All Saints' Year of Prayer

Year of Prayer logo

Do you ever have trouble praying?  Do you sometimes feel like you're not doing it right?  Or maybe old ways of prayer that used to feel nourishing and exciting have become stale, and you'd like to try something new?

We are excited to be focused on exploring prayer over the next few months.  There is no wrong way to pray to God, but sometimes we all go through dry times where our prayer life isn't what we would hope.  So we are going to be looking at different ways of praying, and trying out prayer practices which may be new, but which we hope will refresh our prayer lives and bring us all closer to God.

At the moment we have four prayer afternoons planned, but watch this space as we may yet add more events running into 2019.  Everybody of all ages would be very welcome; don't feel you need to stay for the whole event, you're welcome to pop in and out and see whether it's helpful to you.

All our events will run on Saturday afternoons, 2pm - 4pm, with refreshments available.

Saturday 21st July:  Praying with Scripture.  Come and hear the whole of the Gospel of Mark, read beginning to end.  Either sit, or walk around, and listen; or there will be coloured pens and paper available if you'd like to focus your prayer with a creative response.

Saturday 8th September:  Tactile prayer.  Praying using our sense of touch.  There will be prayer stations and crafts - make a bead prayer bracelet, or try praying the Jesus prayer using a prayer rope.  If you are intending to come to this afternoon, it would be helpful to know only so that we can be sure we have enough materials for everyone to use.

Saturday 20th October:  Visual prayer.  Praying using our vision, exploring different images of Jesus and of Biblical scenes, and also looking at icons.

Saturday 10th November:  Creative prayer.  We welcome the Rev'd Daniel Norris to help guide us through praying using our creativity.
